Fido

Year: 2006
Director: Andrew Currie
Starring: Carrie-Anne Moss, Billy Connelly
Synopsis: Set in alternate 1950s America after the zombie outbreak due to a meteorite, a family decides to keep up with the joneses by adopting a zombie as a domesticated helper.

Review: An original concept that has not been done before and created a whole new genre - Zomedy. In this movie, there are a lot of creative ideas on how humans and zombies live together in harmony. The movie also includes some funny dialogue.

In short, fans of the zombie genre will enjoy this movie. horror movie fans will also get to see a few mildly gory scenes. This is one of the rare horror comedy movies that is mildly amusing. Rating: 6/10

The Hunting Party

Year: 2007
Written and Directed by: Richard Shepard
Starring: Richard Gere, Terence Howard
Synopsis: Two Journalists (plus one trainee) plan to search and to capture a dictator in order to get the reward.

Here's another movie that not many has heard of, even though it stars Richard Gere (of Pretty Woman fame) and Terence Howard (Iron Man).

from the director of The Matador (which is also another underrated movie like this one) , this movie which is set during the Bosnia war should be a serious drama but instead it is actually a road trip movie with some comedy elements.

What is even more interesting is that most of the ridiculous events are actually true ! (so says the movie's introduction)

In short I was pleasantly surprised of how good this movie is. However some may not be used to the amount of cussing in this movie. Rating (8/10)

Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987)

Year: 1987
Written, Produced and Directed by: John Hughes
Starring: Steve Martin, John Candy

Synopsis: Two guys traveling to get home for Thanksgiving

Review:
As a tribute to the legendary director John Hughes who had recently passed away, I watched this classic road trip comedy set during Thanksgiving and stars two of the most successful comedians during the '80s.

The film also strikes a balance between comedy and emotional drama - A trademark of the director.

Unlike most '80s movies which are almost unwatchable, this movie is still relevant and very entertaining even after all these years. Apart from Home Alone (1990) which was also by the same director, this is another must watch movie. RIP John Hughes (1950-2009) and John Candy (1950-1994)

Trivia: Look out for cameo appearances from Kevin B and John Hughes movie regulars.

Rating: 9/10
